Hodges named to petroleum association Hall of Fame
Benny Hodges, owner of Hodges Oil Co. in Belen, has been selected as the recipient of the 2010 Hall of Fame award by the Western Petroleum Marketers Association.
Hodges is an independent oil marketer, supplying gasoline and diesel fuel in the region.
He received his recognition and award at the 57th annual WPMA convention at the Mirage Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., in February. The Hall of Fame is awarded annually to a petroleum marketer or industry associate who has been outstanding in his or her involvement in and support of the association.
The association is a seven-state trade group representing petroleum marketers in Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Washington. Association members are primarily involved in the wholesale and retail distribution of gasoline and diesel fuel, and range in size from small rural family businesses to large multi-station retailers and convenience store owners.
Hodges has served for the past 10 years in various positions on the association's board of directors, including a term as president in 2003-2004.
He has been a member of the New Mexico Petroleum Marketers Association since 1993, and has served in several offices in the state association, including a term as president in 1997-98.
Gov. Gary Johnson appointed Hodges to sit on the state Underground Storage Tank Committee, where he has served the past eight years, and he currently holds the position of Brands Director on the executive board of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America.
