Business wants people to feel Simply the Best

Simply the Best didn’t get its name from having a lot of unsatisfied customers.

In fact, the Belen business has taken off since it opened earlier this year with an average of 60 people that walk through the doors each day.

Simply the Best is a healthy living store that serves aloe and tea along with Herbalife shakes as a way to help residents live heathier lives by meeting their health goals.

The multi-level marketing business is a part of a large group of independent distributors who sell the Herbalife products nationwide.

“It’s a natural weight loss,” said Letisha Garcia, an independent distributor. “It’s not like you are going on a crash diet. When you get on this, stay on it forever. It feeds your body good nutrition.”

Garcia said the aloe helps sooth the digestive system while the shake provides customers with protein and nutrients that are required in a healthy, balanced diet. She said customers can typically lose about two to three pounds a week in a natural weight loss regimen. The cost for one sitting is $4.

The independent distributor said most residents come to her business because they enjoy the atmosphere at 7A Edward Drive, next to Blake’s Lotaburger and First Community Bank in Belen.

“People start meeting each other here,” Garcia said. “They are in the same boat. They can share stories.”

Garcia said people young and old come to the business as part of a refuge and some are battling serious health problems such as obesity and cancer.

Simply the Best is open Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m to 7 p.m. weekdays. The business is open 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Gary Moore of Belen has been a customer since 2009, and said the business has helped him lose weight.

“It’s worked really great,” Moore said. “I have lost 30 pounds.”

Monica Dutcher, who works at the business, said the regimen has helped her with her asthma problems.

“I was really overweight and I had asthma really bad,” Dutcher said. “It makes me feel better. I used to sleep until noon. Now, I’m up at 5 a.m.”

Ruthie Lopez of Belen has been a regular customer since last year and says the shakes make her feel more energetic.

“Everybody’s happy and in a good mood,” Lopez said. “It’s just nice.”
