Albert “Al” J. Luna
1942-2011

Albert “Al” J. Luna, age 68, a resident of Albuquerque, formerly of Los Lunas, passed away on Saturday, April 2.

Judy A. Martin
1946-2011

Judy Martin, age 64, a resident of Belen, passed away on Friday, April 4.
She was a member of the Women of The Moose No. 1648 and the American Legion Post 72 in Albuquerque.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Terry and James Short. She is survived by her husband, Mike Martin; children, James A. Lujan Jr., Terri Lujan and her husband, Michael Gonzales, Joe Anne Lujan Apodaca and her husband, Victor; two sisters, Joyce A. Short and Jody Tenzing and her husband, Hisi; eight grandchildren, Edward and his wife, Erica, Jeremy, Shelby, Lauren, Stephen, Rebecca, Amanda and Andrew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
All services will be private.

John S. “Jack” Wood
1917-2010

John S. Jack” Wood, 94, passed away on April 3.
He was born in Texas on March 25, 1917.
Jack moved from Carlsbad to Belen in 1940, where he operated a service station, moving on to open a Studebaker dealership.
He moved to Los Lunas in 1954 to try his hand at farming. He soon went back to selling cars for Caldwell Motor Co. He was instrumental in the development of Mid-Valley Air Park.
He served as a Valencia County Commissioner, was one of the two surviving charter members of the Lion’s Club of Belen. He helped form the Valencia County Sheriff’s Posse and played a big part in the construction of the Posse building at the Valencia County Fair grounds.
He extended a helping hand to many in need throughout the years. He loved to dance and could be found at every dance for miles around. He finally had to give up dancing at 92.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Wood; parents, Claude and Winnie Wood; sisters, Inez Rogers and Mildred Spurgeon; brothers, Buddy Wood and Henry Wood. He is survived by his son, Donald Wood (Judy); daughter, Betty Hough Smith (Glen); grandsons, Spencer B. Wood (Ronita), Michael Hough; granddaughters, Tammy Baca and Kandra Longo (Richie); seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; and one special friend, Marla.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Jack’s name to the Bosque Farms Fire Department, c/o Fire Chief Spencer Wood, 2400 McNew Road, Bosque Farms, N.M., 87068.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
