TOMÉ ELEMENTARY will be holding its annual Art and Literacy Expo at the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus through April 30. The art and writing of the students grades pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade will be on display in the UNM-VC cafeteria. 
THE BELEN ART LEAGUE SPRING SHOW will be held  from Saturday, May 7-29 at the Harvey House in Belen.
RAILROADING IN VALENCIA COUNTY will be the topic of an exhibit at the Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts, 251 Main St., through June 25. The exhibit explores the history of railroading in Valencia County from the laying of the first track in 1880 to the Rail Runner and transcontinental freight trains of today.

THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION SURVEY is now available online at www.ped.state.nm.us for Belen Consolidated Schools parents. Click on “Resources for District” and follow the steps until you select “Belen District.” Try to complete the survey by May 20.
SUNDANCE ELEMENTARY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION  will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until May 27. Information needed include proof of residency, a lease agreement and utility bill, a mortgage statement or property tax assessment, and up-to-date immunization records.
TOMÉ ELEMENTARY REGISTRATION will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. through May 13. Students must be 5-years old on or before Sept. 1, 2011. An original birth certificate, shot records and proof of residency are required to enroll a student.

“GIVE A HOOT, FILL THE BOOT” fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help raise money for the Belen Fire Department. Volunteers will be at six locations in Belen asking for donations, including on N.M. 314 in front of the flea market, on Reinken and Sixth Street, on Main Street and Becker Avenue, on Camino del Llano and Main Street, at the Del Rio Shopping Center and on River Road.
THE LOS LUNAS WARD WALKERS will be holding a fundraiser yard sale to benefit Relay for Life from 8 a.m. to noon at 104 James Street in Los Lunas.
SUNDAY, MAY 1
THE RIO GRANDE ESTATES VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will hold a car wash and a hot dog sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All money raised will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises awareness and money to find a cure for childhood cancer patients. Firefighters and their family, friends and co-workers will shave their hair at noon in order to raise money.

THE LOS LUNAS MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH CLUB will hold a community car wash in from of the school from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students are trying to raise money for their annual field trip.
THE LOS LUNAS HIGH SCHOOL MATH LEAGUE will hold a car wash and barbecue at Brad Francis Chevrolet-Oldsmobile from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The group is raising money for a national math competition in June.
NEW LIFE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH is sponsoring a fiesta dinner and silent auction to raise funds to church members on a mission trip to Belize. There will also be live music, with coffee and doughnuts in the morning, and hot dogs and soda in the afternoon. Raffle tickets will be on sale to win meals at local restaurants. All proceeds will help buy music and equipment for future performances.
GIRL SCOUTS OF NEW MEXICO TRAILS will be holding an adopt-a-thon and animal food drive for the Valencia County Animal Shelter from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Belen Family Moose Lodge, 19482 N.M. 314 in Belen. You will receive pet emergency kit information, dog bite prevention tips and refreshments.
