Winters mark 50 years of marriage
George and Peggy Winters of Los Lunas will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on Aug. 26. The couple was married in 1961 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in East Rockaway, N.Y.
George is retired from the New Mexico Department of Education. He received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University, and his master’s degree from University of New Mexico. He is a member of the Railroad Club at the Harvey House Museum in Belen, and enjoys trains and restoring vehicles.
Peggy is retired from the New Mexico Department of Health. She enjoys yoga, scrapbooking and painting.
Both stay active in their local community, and belong to St. Philips Episcopal Church.
George and Peggy are the parents of Suzanne Chennault and her husband, Eric, of Reno, Nev., Thomas Winters and his wife, Chantee, of Los Lunas, and Kimberly Portillo of Albuquerque. They have five grandchildren, Jake, Tanya, Michael, Kyleigh and Tyler.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a reception with friends and family, and a trip to Hawaii was taken in April.
