Bosque Farms allows for Peralta annexation
When property owner V.R. Kunce wanted to consolidate his two tracts of land into one, he made an interesting discovery.
One piece was in the village of Bosque Farms and the other was in the town of Peralta. The parcel located in Bosque Farms doesn't have access from any road within the village.
So Kunce asked that the two tracts be made one and annexed into Peralta. The Peralta council approved the request at its Aug. 10 meeting.
After a few questions, the Bosque Farms council did the same at its Aug. 18 meeting.
Councilor Bob Knowlton asked if there was a particular ordinance the village was following for the annexation request.
Planning and zoning officer Donna Baker said there wasn't a specific ordinance.
"We talked to the attorney and he said that both councils needed to approve it," Baker said.
Mayor Wayne Ake said property can be annexed into a municipality at the owner's request.
During the mayor and councilor reports, Ake said clerk/administrator Gayle Jones had recently met with engineering firm Molzen-Corbin and Associates about the renovations at the community center. The Community Development Block Grant the village received for the work might not stretch as far as hoped, Ake said.
"They came up with some good ideas and I think we're in real good shape," Ake said.
