Desert Willow Festival was a great success
Editor:
We would like to take the time to thank all of the volunteers and groups that helped to make our second annual Desert Willow Festival at the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area a success.
We want to thank the members of the Friends of the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation who put in many hours during the year preparing for the festival, helping with the festival set up, and working the festival hours and plant sale.
Our thanks go to the Valencia County Master Gardeners, who not only answered questions, but suffered through a downburst of wind that took their tent for a ride.
We appreciate the support and cooperation of Desert Spring Nursery, Bernardo Beach Native Plant Farm, and Rio Grande Cactus, all of whom provided plants for the sale. We especially want to thank Mountain States Wholesale Nursery for their donation of 300 plants to our fundraising effort.
We want to thank KUNM Public Radio station for the promotional spots they ran running up to the festival. A special thanks goes to this newspaper, the Valencia County News-Bulletin, for your continued support of our efforts here at Whitfield and helping us to get out the word about the festival.
Mark next August on your calendar and come out to the third annual Desert Willow Festival at the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area. Thanks again to all those who helped with this year’s festival.
