Thousands of dollars of city property were damaged at the city well on Aragon and the North Frontage Road.

A suspect cut the fence on the west side of the building and drilled off a metal pipe about 10 yards long, according to a Belen police report. The incident occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 10.
The repairs to the pipe and fence total about $4,000, the police report stated.
Mary Lucy Baca, interim city manager, said at the Sept. 19 city council meeting it was unknown how the suspect cut the fence, since it carries a high voltage.
After the suspect cut the fence, they reversed their vehicle into the area, the report stated. For unknown reasons, the suspect left the metal pipe behind.
Police are still searching for suspects.
