Jose E. Baldonado
1936 – 2011

Jose E. “Sẽme” Baldonado, age 75, a resident of Belen, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 23. A member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, Jose was deaf and attended the New Mexico School for the Deaf from the age of 4, where he excelled in basketball. He also loved football and his favorite team was the Rams.
Jose had been sick for a long time, however he continued to fight for his wife, Renee, to whom he would have shared 45 years of marriage on Jan. 7. Jose retired from the Belen Consolidated Schools.
He loved his family and was loved by many. Jose was always laughing and smiling. Jose, a loving husband, father and grandfather, will surely be missed by many.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Remijo Baldonado, born in Jarales and Abelina Garcia, born in Bosque; siblings, Reina Baldonado Pino, infant Mary Helen Baldonado, Secundino Baldonado, killed during the Vietnam Conflict, Arsenio Baldonado, David Baldanado, Guadalupe Baldonado and infant Preciliano Baldonado.
Jose is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Renee C. Baldonado; daughters, Geraldine Gabaldon and husband, Joseph and Joan C. Baldonado; son Joe Baldonano Jr. and wife, Monica; sisters, Rosanna B. Cordova, Erlinda B. Garcia and Sylvia B. Garcia; brothers, Ruperto Baldonado and wife, Flora, Arturo Baldonado and wife, Louisa, Antonio Baldonado, Miguel Baldonado and wife, Adela, Martin Baldonado and Felix Baldonado and wife, Cheryl; aunts Clorinda A. Garcia and Elena A. Felt; grandchildren, Joylene Jaramillo, Joseph Baldonado, Kevin DeLeon, Nathan Baldonado, Brandon DeLeon, Jessica Anderson and Joseph Barfield; great-grandchildren, Selena and Isaac Anderson and many other family members and friends.

Agapita Cordova
Died 2011

Agapita Cordova, age 86, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Chavez, Susan Chavez and husband, Herminio, Sunday Cordova, Paulette Lopez and husband, Charles, Yolanda Holguin and husband, Ruben, of Arenas Valley, N.M., and Michelle Chavez and husband, Robert; sons, Michael Cordova and wife, Corrie, Anthony Cordova, and Paul Cordova and wife, Janet, of Barstow, Calif., 22 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Frank Cordova, son-in-law, Bennie Chavez; niece, Roberta Chavez; nephews, Dennis Kurtz and Roderick Chavez.
Aggie “Nana” owned and operated Frank’s Auto Service with her husband for 36 years. She enjoyed fishing, working in her yard, cooking and being with her family.
Nana had a deep admiration for the Lord which she enjoyed sharing with those she loved. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A service was held at Christian Fellowship, 628 Los Lentes Rd. NE, Los Lunas, on Friday, Nov. 25.
Pallbearers were Filbert Chavez, Kevin Chavez, Aaron Cordova, Reuben Holguin, Levi Cordova, and James Chavez. Services were lovingly preplanned at French Mortuary.

Earl V. Marschand

Earl V. Marschand, born May 3, 1925, passed away on Nov. 21. He was a resident of Los Lunas. He has gone home to be with his Heavenly Father.
He is survived by his sons Craig Marschand and family, Kenny, and Kris Marschand and family; daughters Joni Marschand and family, and Florence and Leonard Pacheco and family.
He will be missed and loved always.
Services will be held at Direct Services in Albuquerque on Dec. 2. He will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Barbra Smith
1942 – 2011

Barbra Smith, age 69, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24. Arrangements are pending with the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 864-4448.

Cheryl Rae Trujillo

Cheryl Rae Trujillo was granted her angel wings on Nov. 19, following a four-year battle with cancer. She spent her final days with friends and family.
Cheryl touched the lives of all that knew her. She will always be remembered for her smile, sense of humor, strength, bravery and sweet demeanor.
The youngest of three girls, she was born on Jan. 25, 1961, in Albuquerque to James and Nancy Pettis. Cheryl graduated from Los Lunas High School and attended New Mexico Highlands University, where she met the love of her life, John Trujillo.
John and Cheryl were married on July 23, 1983. In 1993, she joined the Aggies and became an Alumna of New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Through her love for children, she dedicated her time as a licensed social worker for Child Protective Services, CASA volunteer and as a substitute teacher.
Cheryl was an avid “Dancing with the Stars” fan, loved to spend her weekends shopping with her two daughters and enjoyed spending Friday afternoons out with her husband. Her great joy in life was watching her two daughters grow into young women.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, John Trujillo; daughters Andrea Trujillo, Raquel Sullivan and husband, Nicholas; mother Nancy Pettis; parents-in-law, Sesario Trujillo and Angelina Trujillo; sister, Audrey DeMenno and husband, Vince; Godchildren, Dolltyn Rosas and Risher Rosas; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sabrina Blahetka; father, James Pettis; and nephew, Robert Trujillo.
A memorial prayer vigil will take place at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, at Holy Cross Church followed by a memorial Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Cheryl will be laid to rest in Belen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
