Shirley Artiaga Angowski
Shirley Artiaga Angowski, age 51, a resident of Los Lunas, went to join her beloved sister and brothers on Monday, Dec. 5.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Artiaga; brothers, Larry Artiaga and Louie Artiaga; and sister Judy Garley.
Shirley is survived by her son, Frank Angowski; her loving mother, Nora Artiaga Vasquez; sisters, Wilma Abril, Loretta Garcia; and her husband, Rick. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Eulalia “Lala” Armijo
Eulalia “Lala” Armijo, a lifelong resident of Belen, died at the age of 61 on Thursday, Dec. 1.
She worked for many years at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School, and in the early 1990s, earned her degree in human services from the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Dome Aragon; her brother, Florenio Aragon; and sister, Eva Aragon.
Eulalia is survived by her three sons, Larry Armijo and wife, Tanya, Shawn Armijo and wife, Terri, and Jason Armijo; and her grandchildren, Abriana, Melissa, Lacrisha, Arissa, Ashley, Madison, Tearza, Mya, Jami, Angelina, Germo, Isabel and Liam.
She will be missed by many and was involved in many, many lives.
Services will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Romero Funeral Home Chapel.
Fred Baca Jr.
Fred Baca Jr., age 60 of Los Lunas, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1951, in Albuquerque to Fred and Eduvigen Baca Sr.
Mr. Baca was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Holy Family Parish.
Surviving are his father, Fred Baca Sr.; his four sons, Fred Baca III, Richard (Judith) Baca, Andy (Jasmine) Baca, Randy (Angeline) Baca; grandchildren, Jassmine, Cassandra, Randy Jr., Jimmy, Santiago, Richard Jr., Joshua and Andy Jr.; mother of his children, Sylvia Baca; two sisters, Dorothy (Albert) Gonzales and Lorraine Bowen; and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eduvigen Baca, in 1993, and one brother.
A visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, with a Rosary service being recited by his sisters at 7 p.m. at Salazar and Sons Mortuary. A memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at Holy Family Parish 562 Atrisco Dr., SW. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Bowen, Eddie Baca Jr. and Michael Garley.

Arline M. Farris
Arline M. Farris, age 89, a resident of Belen, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4. Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled at this time.

George Albert Fetrow
George Albert Fetrow, age 97, a resident of Belen, was born Dec. 22, 1913, in Belmond, Iowa, and died, Thursday, Dec. 1.
George started his working career taking jobs in retail sales and operating his own businesses in north central and north western Iowa.
He joined Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company as a sales person in 1955. George stayed with Mutual for 24 years, and retired as director of sales training in the San Francisco office in 1978.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aileen Joyce (deceased, 1952).
The surviving family members are his wife of 77 years, Betty; sister, Jean McNulty; son Richard Lee Fetrow of Waldport, Ore.; and daughter, Carol Joan Geihs of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was always busy with a hobby of some sort from candy making to woodworking.
Until his death, he and Betty could be found dancing three to four times a week in the Belen and Albuquerque Senior Centers.

Leo Demsey Garcia
Leo Demsey Garcia, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Belen.
He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Leo lived a full happy life. He enjoyed years of fishing and camping with his beloved wife, Trudy.
Leo was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed the company of his little shadow (dog) Elli May. She had a special place in his life. Leo took great pride to each and every one of his grandchildren.
“Our Dad was brave until he took his last breath throughout his illness. He never gave up. He protected his family’s feelings and assured us he was going to be fine until the end. Thank you, Daddy, for being our hero! We will miss you and love you, Daddy, Papa. Always with love your family.”
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Trudy Chavez Garcia; four daughters, Joann Padilla and husband, Eddie, Susan Thompson and husband, Jonn, Jeannie Cordova and Margaret Chavez and companion, Randy Gutierrez; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters, Olivia Pino and Mary Ann Abeita; and two brothers, Tony Garcia and wife, Oralia, and Pat Garcia.
The daughters would like to thank their mother for the love and caring she gave our father throughout the battle of his illness.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Wednesday, Dec. 7, beginning with a viewing at 10:30 a.m., and a Rosary to be recited at 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

Carl Herbert Ivey
Carl Herbert Ivey, age 83, longtime resident of Mountainair, passed away at his home on Sunday, Dec. 4.

Lillian ElWanda Mills
Lillian ElWanda Mills, more commonly known as “Kitty,” passed away peacefully in her home Friday, Dec. 2.
Kitty lived a full 81 years with the last 45 married to James “Jim” Mills in their Los Lunas residence.
In addition to her husband, Kitty is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Keva Hayhurst and husband, Sol “Butch,” of T or C, Linda Blake and husband, Gary, of Denver, and Carolyn Frasier of Los Lunas; two stepsons and their wives, Richard and Cindy Mills of Cottonwood, Ariz., and John and Debbie Mills of Boise, Idaho; and one stepdaughter, Patty McBride of Cottonwood, Ariz. She has also enjoyed 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Kitty was a dedicated employee at Bealls/Anthonys Department store in Belen for 19 years, and will be missed and remembered by many.

Ernaldo Urtiaga, age 90, a resident of Belen, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2.
