Animal Humane New Mexico is asking for the public's help to find the person or persons responsible for throwing three dogs out of a moving vehicle on March 13 along N.M. 6, just west of Walmart.

Dawn Glass, a spokeswoman for the agency, said a mother and her three puppies were thrown out of a dark-colored van on last week.

She said the mother was immediately hit by a semi-truck and died.

One of the puppies, named Grace, suffered a broken jaw and was scheduled to have surgery Tuesday. The puppies are being treated by a staff veterinarian at the agency.

"To throw animals from a moving car ― who knows what else they are capable of," Glass said.

Glass said there has been an outpouring of support against the act of animal cruelty and she said the agency has raised attention to the incident on its Facebook page in hopes to find out who committed the act.

Clear Channel Outdoor Albuquerque also donated five digital billboards to help find out who was involved.

People who have information on the incident can call 1-877-5 HUMANE, or visit www.facebook.com/AnimalHumaneNM.com.
