Antonio “Tony” Baldonado
1940-2012
Antonio “Tony” Baldonado, age 72, a resident of Belen, passed away on Tuesday, July 31.
He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Remigio and Avelina Garcia Baldonado; brothers, Secundino, Preciliano Arsenio, Jose E., Jose David and Guadalupe Baldonado; sisters, Reina Pino and Mary Helen Baldonado.
Tony is survived by his loving daughter, Avelina  “Abby” Baldonado; step-son, Michael Gabbart; brothers, Ruperto Baldonado and wife, Flora, Arturo and wife, Louisa, Miguel and wife, Adela, Marty, and Felix and wife, Cheryl; sisters, Roseann Cordova, Erlinda Garcia and Sylvia Garcia. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Monday, Aug. 6, beginning with a visitation at 9 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Cristo Rey Cemetery in Bosque.

David J. Pope
1936-2012
David J. Pope, age 76, a resident of Belen, passed away on Friday, July 27.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Jean Schmidt Pope.
David is survived by his daughter, Debra Pope; sons, David and wife, Lisa, and Andrew Pope; and grandchildren, Michelle Pope, Allison Pope and Clint Barnett.

Luis “Louie” Romero
1936-2012
Luis “Louie” Romero, age 76, a lifelong resident of Belen, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, Aug. 1, after a short battle with cancer.
Many residents of Belen were once customers of Louie’s at his pawn shop, salvage yard or propane shop in Pueblitos, where he ran his business for 45 years.
As a young man, Louie served in the Army, in which he traveled to many places in Europe as a radio operator.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Angelina “Angela;” and parents, Pedro and Emilia Romero, of Jarales.
Louie’s absolute love of traveling, fishing and outdoor activities with family and friends have created memories that will comfort his children, Michael Romero, Anthony Romero and companion, Annette, Gabriel Romero and wife, Miquella, Andrew Romero, Catherine Forde Romero and companion, Walter Bracken, and Monica Aragon and husband, Jimmy.
Louie is survived by his sisters, Mary Chavez and husband, Lawrence, Eileen Scott and husband, Vick; brother, Milton Romero; sister-in-law, Lena Montoya and husband, Floren; and brother-in-law, Orlando Sanchez. He was blessed with many grandchildren, Veronica Benavidez, Jason Garcia, Amelia, Dominick, Christopher, Nicholas, Justin and Angela Romero, Amber Limon, Lucas and Mariah Forde, and  Eric and Isaiah Aragon; great-grandchildren, Elijah Garcia, Kimberly, Alexandria and Ramon Limon and Honesti Romero. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
All services, including a viewing, Rosary and Funeral Mass, were held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Friday, Aug. 3. Interment followed at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Lucas Forde, Nicholas Romero, Christopher Romero, Jason Garcia, Randy Castillo and Danny Bernal. Honorary pallbearers were Eric and Isaiah Aragon.
Louie lived his last days like he lived his life, with a matter-of-fact attitude. He would want family and friends to wipe the tears, smile, love and go on. Let’s cherish his memory and let the stories he told live on.

Melba O. Sanchez
1935-2012
Melba O. Sanchez, age 77, a lifetime resident of Adelino, peacefully passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 31.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé.
Melba married the love of her life, Arley G. Sanchez, on July 11, 1953. She was devoted to her family. Melba owned a beauty shop, day care and ceramic shop. Melba touched many lives and especially loved children and babies. Melba was an angel from God that will stay in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Augustina Otero; sisters, Beatrice Otero and Albinita Otero; and brother, Jose Domingo Otero. Melba is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Arley G. Sanchez; children, Arley Sanchez Jr., Richard Sanchez and wife, Diane, Leroy Sanchez and wife, Angela, Belma Griego and husband, Michael, and Kenny Sanchez; and sisters, Lawernce “Lori” Otero Chavez and husband, Willi J., and Nila Otero Toledo.
All services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. A final visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m., with Father Jose Hernandez presiding. Interment will follow at the Tomé Catholic Cemetery.
