Eaton receives $15k from county
While the former Valencia County fire chief couldn't disclose the monetary amount he received for the settlement of his Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint, the check is still considered a public record under the state's Inspection of Public Records Act.
According to county records, former Chief Charles Eaton was awarded $15,000 as part of his recent EEOC settlement.
His resignation was also part of the deal, which he tendered effective on Aug. 2.
Eaton filed the complaint in December, alleging discrimination based on age and disability.
He had been fire chief since 2000, and with the Valencia County fire service for a total of 13 years.
