Greens mark golden anniversary
Gene and Heide Green, of Belen, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday, Aug. 20. The couple was married in 1962 in Franfurt am Main, Germany.
Gene retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Army. During his Army career, the family lived in Germany, Korea and six states. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
He is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, National Model Railroad Association, Chicago and North Western Historical Society, Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society, Milwaukee Road Historical Association and the Southern Pacific Historical and Technical Society. His hobbies include model railroading, historical research and traveling.
Heide retired as a manager from the catering and hospitality industry. She attended Monterey Peninsula Community College. She belongs to the Railroadiana Collectors Association and Gold Prospectors’ Association of America She is also a docent at Harvey House Museum in Belen, a Harvey Girl re-enactor for BNSF, and enjoys gold prospecting and dining car china collecting
Their children are Eric and Diana Green, of Belen, Aaron and Sheila Green, of Albuquerque, Sabine Senear, of Osseo, Minn., and the late Kurt Green and his late wife, Marylee.
The couple has 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, including one the way and another who passed away.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a quiet dinner with their family.
