Porch, Torres exchange vows
No church, no aisles, no pews. Just two people, in a field, vowing a lifetime of love and random adventure.
This was the setting for the June 9 wedding of Jessica Porch and Abran Torres. The ceremony and reception were held at the home of the groom’s parents, Rich and Deborah Torres of Los Chavez.
Pastor Ricky Jaramillo, before 300 plus family members and friends, performed the ceremony in the alfalfa field behind the Torres family home. Jessica was escorted down the aisle by her parents, Stan and Lori Porch of Belen.
The bride wore a strapless, hi-lo gown of lace and pearl beading over satin. She carried a bouquet of pink stargazers, white calla lilies, white alstromeria and pink roses.
Jessica was attended by her maid of honor, Victoria Reyes, who wore a spaghetti strap, hi-lo dress in eggplant.
Her bridesmaids were Melissa Boggs, the bride’s cousin, Nikki Marinsek, the bride’s cousin, Adrianna Martinez, the groom’s cousin and Julie Lajunesse. They wore spaghetti, hi-low dresses in turquoise and carried pink roses.
Mckenna Shurtleff, the groom’s cousin, was the flower girl. She wore a white cotton street length dress with a pink sash and she carried a tradition basket with rose petals.
The groom wore a black, western cut tuxedo jacket, black jeans, camouflage vest, black boots, a black cowboy hat and a calla lily boutonniere.
Abran was attended by his best man, Roberto Torres, his brother; and groomsmen, Carlos Torres, brother; Bob Bollinger, Lane Cook and Cody Moulder. The groomsmen were dressed in the same manner as the groom.
Landon Boggs, the bride’s cousin, was the ring bearer and was dressed identical to the groom. They wore pink rose boutonnieres.
A reception was held after the ceremony and a full meal was served to the guests. There was dancing under the stars until midnight and a limousine took the newlyweds to their new home in Los Lunas.
Jessica is employed at UNM-Diabetes Comprehensive Care as a registered nurse and certified diabetic educator. She holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She is enrolled at the University of St. Francis and is pursuing a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner.
Abran is employed at Alcatel-Lucent Technologies as a customer service installer.
After a week’s honeymoon trip to the Sandals Resort in St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Los Lunas.
