Looking to spruce up, bling out and pamper your rough, neglected hands, your tired, overworked feet and your aching back all in one place?

Wicked Nailz Salon and Boutique in Belen is a one-stop-shop for a little to a lot of pampering. Perfect for a “me day,” a “girls’ day” or a quick pick me up, Wicked Nailz houses three nail technicians, a massage therapist and a little boutique featuring a selection of purses, candles and other goodies.

Melissa Wall, owner and head technician, says she began by building up her clientele after graduating from Callas Beauty Institute in Rio Rancho two years ago as a licensed manicurist.

Crediting her loyal customers for their support, Wall opened her own salon in March, where she offers more than 400 colors of nail glitter to provide her clients with bling at their fingertips — literally.

On top of all those color choices, Wall custom mixes her glitters for patrons as well as ships them across the world through her Internet store.

For Wall, giving manicures is more than skin, or nail, deep. A true artist of her craft, she says she gives a piece of herself to her clients.

One of her signature styles involves using acrylic to embed combinations of glitter at the tip of the nail and letting the sparkles gracefully blend into a natural nail base, almost like a French manicure.

But her specialty, she says, are natural nails, which she covers with acrylic — and decorates of course — to help them grow out.

“Most of my clients, they’re their natural nails that I cover with acrylic. I help them grow their nails,” says Wall.

With acrylic, she says, anything is possible and with it you can pretty much encapsulate anything into a nail — not just glitter — including lace, netting, temporary tattoos and “3D” items such as tiny rose figurines.

She even does a style known as “aquarium nails,” in which she fills a nail with mineral oil and glitter to create a fish bowl effect.

“You can put anything you want to in your nails,” she says. “Everybody is different, even if you want it the same, it will be different.”

The other two techs are Natalie Finley, who says she specializes in pedicures, and Darla Fox.

Wall is by appointment only, Finley is by appointment, but accepts walk ins on Thursdays and Fridays, and Fox accepts walk ins.

Also on staff is Jessie Gilliam, a massage therapist who studied at Universal Therapeutic Massage Institute in Albuquerque. He says he specializes in relaxation or energizing massage and also does deep tissue and sports massage.

He also offers hot stone massage, sugar glow, salt scrub, seaweed herbal body wrap, mineral mud body wrap, reflexology and foot detox. Right now, he is offering a special of $30 for an hour long massage. Gilliam prefers appointments, but will take walk ins.

The salon also offers glitter tattoos that are waterproof and will soon be adding a tanning bed.
