Lelia L. Dix-Smith
Died 2012
Lelia L. Dix-Smith, 89, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died Friday, Sept. 14.
Lelia was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, Fenton W. Dix; her parents, William B. and Blanche Lingo; siblings, Louise Cahlana, Monroe, Jim, Bobby, Walter and Burleigh Lingo.
She is survived by husband, Donald E. Smith, of Peralta; son, Kenneth (Teresa) Dix of Albuquerque; daughter, Martha (Richard) Brubaker, of  Dallas, Texas; daughter, Bobbie (Bill) Vance, Thornton, Colo.; stepchildren, Brenda (Ted) Schlote, Randy (Bonnie) and Gary (Sandra) Smith. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Susie Guy, Theresa (Artis) Tippie, Anita (Jeff) Watson of Dallas, Texas, Lane (Melissa) Vance of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Aaron Dix of Albuquerque, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Lelia was a member of Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church.
A viewing was held Monday, Sept. 17, at French Funerals and Cremations, 1111 University Blvd. NE. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, with a luncheon to follow at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, Peralta. Pastor David Madara will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice in lieu of flowers.

Thomas Glass, age 76, a resident of Peralta, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20.

Sophie L. Gonzales
1932-2012
Sophie L. Gonzales, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the age of 79.
Sophie was one of 17 children born in Alameda, N.M. Her very special brother, Nestor Chavez, lovingly cared for her until her death, which will always be appreciated by the entire family. She was deeply loved by her remaining seven sisters.
Sophie loved the Lord and her family. Even as she struggled through pain, she remained dedicated to her greatest passion, which was prayer. Sophie’s unforgettable personality, sharp wit and remarkable twinkle in her eye will forever be missed.
“All things work together for those who love God and who are called according to his purpose.”
She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 51 years, Orlando Gonzales Sr.; son, Ronnie Gonzales; and parents, Salomon and Maria Quintana Chavez.
Sophie is survived by her children, Orlando Gonzales Jr. and wife, Rita, Suzanne Anaya and husband, Jerry, Debbie Weaver, Lynda Gonzales and husband, Garth Heffernan, and Richard Gonzales; she was a blessing to 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
A viewing was held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Sept. 21. A final viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, with a funeral service to be held at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Weaver, Orlando Gonzales III, Saloman Gonzales, Vicente Saiz, Miranda Chavez, Mario Gonzales and Garth Heffernan.

Adelaudo “Lalo” Marquez
1928-2012
Adelaudo “Lalo” Marquez, age 84, a resident of Peralta and formerly of Albuquerque, died Monday, Sept. 17.
He is survived by his son, Abie Marquez and wife, Liz; daughters, Nadine Marquez and Jocelyn Betzen; grandchildren, Erika, Jackie, Tim, Veronica and Kira; great-grandchildren, Harlan, Skyler and Zena; brother, Chris Lopez and wife, Trinnie; and sister, Ida Valdez.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erlinda.
Lalo was born to Abel and Predicanda Marquez on Feb. 5, 1928, in Moquino, N.M. He moved to Albuquerque with his mother and sisters as a young man. Lalo was a sales representative working in building supplies until his retirement.
Later in life, he loved to do woodwork. Lalo built bird houses, gates and a wishing well.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at French, University. A private interment will take place.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Tim Sanchez; nephews, Earl Marquez, Jerry Martinez, Eugene Martinez and best friend, Procopio Sandoval.

David L. Robinson
1953-2012
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, David L. Robinson, born Dec. 11, 1953, passed away the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 18, with his loving wife, Selina Robinson, by his side.
Dave is preceded in the death by his parents, Guy and Edna Robinson. He is survived by his brother, Kenny Robinson and wife, Gina; his three daughters, Kara, Terri and Melanie; stepchildren, Chase and Shae Sutfin; his beautiful grandchildren, Kirksey, Finley, Paxton and Kaycee Jo; and his adored niece, Ainsley Robinson.
A special thanks to Karin and Heartland Hospice.
Services will be held at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24.
In lieu of flowers, non-perishable food items may be donated to the church to benefit the Valencia County Food Pantry.
