The Valencia High girls soccer team gave up four goals in the first 26 minutes Saturday, two of them on the same type of play, and the Jags' two second-half goals were not enough in a 4-2 home loss to Miyamura.

The Jaguars were set to host Grants after News-Bulletin press time Tuesday, and will play another home match when they host Belen at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Against Miyamura, the Jags were hoping to finally beat the Patriots, who beat them 1-0 in Gallup on Sept. 25. But the Jaguars were slow in the first half of Saturday's match, especially the four defenders, who frequently reacted slow to the Patriots' through-ball passes.

Miyamura scored in the seventh, 13th, 15th and 26th minutes and led 4-0 at the half.

The second goal happened when one Jaguar defender kicked the ball directly to Miyamura's Monica Manuelito, who was standing about 10 feet from the VHS goal. Manuelito then put the ball past Jag goalkeeper Brittany Piro.

In the 61st minute, the Jags finally got on the board, as Norene Archuleta got the ball ahead to Kaitlynn Craig, who scored from about 20 yards out on the left side. About six minutes later, Jazirae Chavira drove around the right side and hit a hard shot that Patriot goalkeeper Aubrey Orr stopped, but Archuleta was there to slam the rebound into the net.
