Snow might not be falling outside, but the spirit of Christmas is in the air.

Storefront windows are covered in faux snow, every other home glistens with strings of Christmas lights and Santa seems to be lurking around every corner.

Parents can translate their children’s excitement for the holiday season by embellishing their homes and Christmas trees with easy handmade ornaments.

Recreate one of the following Christmas ornaments with your children during the long holiday break. Each ornament takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to create, and can be made with everyday household items laying around your home.

These decorations were made and created by local artists, including Belen resident Jamie Ford, Los Lunas resident Monika Martin and Belen resident Kae Wendel.
