Clifford “Wayne” Dahl
1932-2013
Clifford “Wayne” Dahl, 80, of Mountainair, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, Jan. 10.
Wayne was born Feb. 1, 1932, in Magdalena, to Carl and Bessie (Wyche) Dahl. Wayne had lived in Mountainair for the past 12 years, having previously lived in Los Lunas.
He married Brenda Dahl on Feb. 18, 1958, in Albuquerque. They had three children, Bill, Steve and Julie.
Wayne was a Navy veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge and the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his sister, Betty Cummings. He is survived by his sons, Bill Dahl and his wife, Dian, of Albuquerque, and Steve Dahl of Albuquerque; daughter, Julie Eubanks of Anaconda, Mont.; brother, Carl Dahl and his wife, Maxine, of Moriarty; sister, Billie Otte of Albuquerque; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There was a funeral service on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, with Doris Jaques officiating. Burial followed the service at the Mountainair Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Dahl, JP Gant III, Robert Otte, David Early, Dwayne Boyle and Kenneth Storey.

Victor Mendoza
1939-2013
Victor Mendoza, age 73, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Monday, Jan. 14.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The arena and horses were his life; he was a calf roper and team roper. He worked construction for Western Mobile. Victor was loved by everyone and was a family man.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lita Gonzales Mendoza; parents, Eloy and Ignacita Torres Mendoza; brothers, Pete and Pilar Mendoza; and sister, Maria Saavedra.
Victor is survived by his loving sons, Victor Roddy and wife, Eilzabeth Mendoza, and Paul and wife, Eva Mendoza; daughters, Lisa and husband, Randy Gettings, Bonnie Mendoza and companion, Abi Esquibel, and Carmen Mendoza and companion, Albert Miranda; brothers, Julian, Pitacio and Ralph Mendoza; sisters, Tammy, Rosa and Lydia Gonzalez; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 17, beginning with a viewing at 10 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Father Hoi Tran presiding. Interment will follow at Luis Lopez Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Mendoza, Eric Miranda, Andrew Esquibel, Stevan Gutierrez, Christopher Trujillo, Albert Miranda, Abi Esquibel and Raymond Encinias. Honorary pallbearers will be Victor Roddy Martinez, Nehemiah Mendoza, Julian Mendoza, Pitacio Mendoza, Ralph Mendoza and Blas Garcia Jr.

Orlando Sanchez
1926-2013
Orlando Sanchez, age 86, a resident of Belen, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, Jan. 13.
He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. One of his proudest achievements was his service to our country during WWII. He retired from the railroad after 42 years of outstanding service.
He was preceded in death by his son, Melvin; and daughter, Geraldine Eggleston. Orlando is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bernie; sons, Robert and wife, Loretta, Anthony and wife, Lucille, Orlando Jr. and wife, Nina, and John; daughter, Cindy; son-in-law, Jody Eggleston; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 17, beginning with a viewing at 9 a.m., a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

John Phillip Scalf
1989-2013
On Thursday, Jan. 10, a loving and caring son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson and friend was taken from us far too soon.
John Phillip Scalf was born May 28, 1989, to John and Kelly Scalf. John Phillip, aka JP, was a young, aspiring 23-year-old man.
He had so many things in life he wanted to accomplish, yet he didn’t have enough time. He had a passion for cars, motocross, friends, family and his dog, Cleo.
He is preceded in death by his uncles, Russell Scalf, Russ Morgan and John Morgan; his great grandparents, John and Donna Morgan; and most recently by his great-grandmother, Maria Magdeline (Madeline) Marold.
He is survived by his mother, Kelly; father, John; sister, Jenna Scalf of Belen; grandmothers, Lorraine Peters and Jean Scalf of Belen; grandfathers, Steve Scalf of Chicago, and Juergen Peters of Albuquerque; uncles, Steven Scalf of Belen, Eric and Jeff Peters of Albuquerque; aunts, Karin Fogal of Monticello and June Kramer of Belen; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
His caring heart and great sense of humor will be greatly missed. Rest easy JP, you will hurt no more.
