Warren Ayers
1938-2013
Warren Ayers died Sunday, Jan. 13, at his home in Clovis.
Memorial services were held Friday, Jan. 18, at Muffley Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Kelly Hartz officating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, at Terrace Grove Cemetery, 1200 W. Aragon, in Belen.
Honorary pallbearers will be all his AT&SF Railway friends.
Warren was born April 8, 1938, to William Egar and Estoria (Myers) Ayers in McLoud, Okla. He married Lauretta Hastings in November 1956 in Rye, Colo.
Warren moved to Clovis from Belen in 1977. He worked for AT&SF Railway for 40 years as brakeman and conductor. Warren was a member of the NARVRE-UTU. He enjoyed going to auctions, hunting, camping and was avid outdoors man.
Survivors include his wife, Lauretta Ayers, of the home; a daughter, Stephanie Russell of Perryton, Texas; a sister, Mildred McVay of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Tara Davis, Crystal Russell and Tonya Russell; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Estoria; one son; Steven Ayers; and a grandson, Brett Davis.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Presbyterian Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided.

Helen Baca, age 84, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18.

Winnie F. “Mathews” Castleman
Died 2013
Winnie F. “Mathews” Castleman, 77, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray “Bo” Castleman; and her brother, Robert Gordon Mathews.
Winnie is survived by her daughters, Karen Ray Bernauer and her husband, Steve, and Kathy Herring and her husband, Chad; grandson, Korey Ray Coombs and his wife, Heather; their daughter, Rylee and “expected” daughter, Kinzee Rae; grandson, Kolten James Herring; her daughter, Kimberly Ann Enneper and her husband, Bruce; granddaughter, Kristin Andrea Mares; four loving brothers, Jack, Guy, John and Warren Mathews and their familes, as well as a large group of extended family and friends.
Her extended family, both by blood and by heart, meant so much to her. She took great pride in being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. Winnie will be laid alongside her husband on Mt. Taylor.
A celebration of her life was held at the Assembly of God Church in Mountainair NM., at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, with fellowship following at The Christian Center.

Dorthy “Dottie” Ferzoco
1924-2013 
Dorthy “Dottie” Ferzoco, 88, a resident of Rio Communities, passed away in the loving care of Richard Moya and David Alderete at Lakeview Manor in Los Lunas.
She was born July 13, 1924, in Big Sandy, Texas, and was a member of The Church of Christ in Rio Communities.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alexandro “Rocky” Ferzoco.
She is survived by daughter, Diane Huckabee and husband, Jerry; granddaughter, Marie Martinez, and her son, Dalton Meyer and daughter, Taylor Martinez, of Belen, grandson, Shawn Meyer and wife, Darby, and Jadyn and Kylan of Washington, granddaughter, Mona Brezina and husband, Mike, and their children, Ian and his wife, Sabrina, Taryn and fiance, Lex Gonzalez, and Madalyn of Texas, grandson, Michael Meyer and sons, Michael and Angelo of Albuquerque, and grandson, Simeon Meyer in California.
She requested no services, and her ashes will be scattered in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Memorial Rose Garden with her husband, Rocky.

Loretta Gage, age 61, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17.

James Johnston
1962-2013
James Johnston, age 50, a resident of Belen, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
He loved fishing, hanging out with his friends and cooking. He had a good sense of humor, was very caring, a hard worker and a great family man and friend.
He always had a smile, and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. James will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnna Johnston; children, Carlos, Bianca, Michael, Edwin, Andy, Iysha; nine grandchildren; brother, Artie Johnson; John Johnston Jr., William Chrissikopallos; and mother, Beverlee Simmons.
All services will be held at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, Monday, Jan. 21, beginning with a viewing at noon, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor David Guerrero officiating. The burial will follow at Terrace Grove.
Pallbearers will be Andy Quintana, Edwin Contreras, Andy Griego, Victor Williams, Louis Wade, John Johnston and Artie Johnston.

Terry Michaelson
1951-2013
Terry Michaelson, age 61, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Monday, Jan. 14.
Terry was the person everyone wanted to know. He was a loving son, brother, father, friend and much more. His humorous spirit shined brighter than his yellow corvette.
Often, you would find him conducting a symphony of laughter on the golf course or inside a local restaurant. Music was his muse and guided his funky step. Terry will continue to live in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to dance with him.
Terry is survived by his two sons, Scott and Jeffery Michaelson; sister, Joyce Michaelson; and many family members and friends throughout the world.

Manuela A. “Nellie” Rivera
1929-2013
Manuela “Nellie” Rivera, age 83, a resident of Bosque, passed away Monday, Jan. 14.
She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was active at the Belen Senior Center and the Del Rio Senior Center, where she loved to dance. She was a great cook and loved her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Luz Alvarez; two brothers and two sisters.
“Nellie” is survived by her husband of 55 years, Frank Rivera; children, Francisco Rivera Jr., Lori Rivera, Raymond Tony Rivera and wife, Robin; three grandchildren, Eric, Gracie and Charlie Rivera; four sisters, Wilma Alvarez, Lucy Estrada, Caroline Rodriguez and Alejandra Altuna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, which began on Friday, Jan. 18, with a viewing and Rosary. A final viewing will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m.  Interment will be at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Junior Madrid, Charlie Madrid, Michael Rivera, Mario Amado, Eric Rivera, Robin Rivera, Andres Estrada and Richard Estrada. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Calloway, Bobby Calloway, Randy Calloway, Jonathan Baca, Gracie and Charlie Rivera, Sandra Estrada, Martin Rivera, Zeke Estrada and Eddie Altuna.

Eloisa Sanchez
1932-2013
Eloisa Sanchez, age 80, was born on March 28, 1932, in Ewing, N. M., “El Rancho.”
She was a lifelong resident of Belen. Our Heavenly Father called her Home on Wednesday, Jan. 16, to join her “Honey” and husband of 60 years, Celso Sanchez.
She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, where she participated as a eucharistic minister, and a member of The Blessed Sacrament Society. She was a strong woman committed to her Catholic Faith.
Eloisa was the fourth child in her family of 10. Eloisa and Celso built their family’s home on Garcia Street in Belen in 1958. She was a loving housewife and caring mother to “her boys.” She especially enjoyed her time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides being the best cook in Valencia County (some say the world), she warmed our hearts with her unbelievable love and welcomed everyone she met into her loving home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Celso Sanchez; her parents, Pablo and Manuelita Sanchez; mother and father-in-law, Atanacio and Felicita Sanchez; her sisters, Mary Sanchez and Lourdes Baca; her brother, Gilbert Sanchez; her two grandchildren, Marcos and Alicia Sanchez; and her great-grandson, Jehren Sanchez.
Eloisa is survived by her four sons, Henry and wife, Linda, Robert and wife, Frances, Paul, Raymond and Jalene; grandchildren, Eric and wife, Michelle, Evonnee and husband, Erron, Carlos and wife, Lynette, Felipe, Francisco, Ricardo and Monique, Monica, Bryan and Dianah, Jonathan and Alysha,  Kayla Chavez, Armando and his mother, Rowena Sanchez; special nieta/family friend, Hollyanna; seven great-grandchildren, Rosemarie, Michael, Aimee, Daniel, Bryan Jr., Dylan and Jaycee; brothers, sisters and in-laws, Amado and Charlotte Sanchez, Frankie and Nellie Sanchez, Sylvestre Baca, Annie Carrillo, Fidel and Lucy Gabaldon, Orlando and Cordy Mares, Evelyn Sanchez, Roddy and Lolly Silva, Lucy (Raul) Sanchez, Lucy(Herman) Sanchez and Alfredo and Sari Sanchez. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone that contributed to the care of our mother and grandma. A special thank you to all of our wonderful family and friends who helped in various ways in our time of need. A very special thank you to her sons, Paul and Raymond, for their unselfish care and committed dedication.
A viewing and rosary were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé at on Friday, Jan. 18. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at noon. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren.

Gerald Shepherd
1944-2013
Gerald Shepherd, age 69, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15.
He was a member of the Message of God Church. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wis., and as a young man he joined the U.S. Navy, and was medically discharged.
He was a very caring and outgoing person. Everyone who crossed paths with him often told him that God broke the mold when He made him. “Gerry” loved the Lord and spoke of Jesus and heaven often. He really tried to walk in Christ’s footsteps.
Second from the Lord, he loved his wife, Mary, his seven children, brothers and sisters he grew up with and his family in the Lord.
Services will be held at the Message of God Church in Albuquerque, 6072 Appleton Road, on Wednesday, Jan. 23, beginning at 10 a.m. with a viewing; the funeral will be at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Travis Wilkinson (Tee), Lynn Jackson, Gary Dinkel, Renier Oquendo and Elice Wilkinson (Slim).

Vernal “Dudley” Tuttle Jr., TSGT
1949-2012
Vernal Dudley Tuttle Jr., age 63, a resident of Los Chavez, passed away Monday, Dec. 10.
Dudley was born Oct. 3, 1949, to Ruth Gaynelle Lawley and Vernal Dudley Tuttle Sr. of Portales. He was a 1967 graduate of Clovis High School, and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967 as an aircraft weapons mechanic.
While serving three tours of duty in Vietnam, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters. In 1976, Dudley joined the New Mexico Air National Guard, where he went on to become a full-time aircraft armament technician.
Dudley married Cheryl Lynn Anaya, of Albuquerque, in April 1979, and together they had four children. The family moved from Albuquerque to their current home in Los Chavez in 1987.
Dudley was an avid fisherman and hunter, teaching his children the importance of safety and the love of the sports.
Dudley was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marshall Tuttle; step-mother, Nadine Tuttle; sister, Ann Baray; and son-in-law, Marshall Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, Yolanda “Lonnie” Tuttle-Williams, Vernal “Tres” Tuttle III (Liz), Reed Tuttle (Katie), Traci Tuttle (Jeroen Van der Ploeg); grandchildren, Kailee Rae and Payton Reed Tuttle; sisters, Yvonne Cobb  (Ernie), Becky Determan (Steve); three nieces and three nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, with a gathering of friends and family to follow.
