County girls advance to the Pit

It was an easy first round of the Class 4A girls basketball team for both Valencia and Los Lunas.

The No. 1 seed Tigers handled No. 16 Goddard 65-43 behind 25 points from Teige Zeller.

The No. 6 seed Jaguars actually had an easier time of it, throttling No. 11 Albuquerque Academy, 51-19. Savannah Stump led the scoring for Valencia with 14 points.

Both teams will advance to the Pit for quarterfinal games on Tuesday. Los Lunas will face Los Alamos in a tip that is scheduled for 1:15 p.m., while Valencia will take on the No. 3 seed Demonettes from Santa Fe at 4:45 p.m.
