Go Lobos! My visit to the lady’s basketball game
My name is Miranda Garcia and I am in the fifth grade at Gil Sanchez Elementary School.
The reason I want to be a news reporter is because it feels like you want to go out and explore, it also gives you the chance to travel.
I love to take pictures of people and places. I think reporting will give me the opportunity to do what I like to do most.
I am very excited to share my first job as a reporter with you.
About a week ago, I went to the Lady Lobo game. They played against Nevada.
As soon as I walked into the Pit, I heard the loud music and fans cheering for their team “Everyone’s a Lobo! Woof! Woof! Wwoof!”
At the beginning of the game, both teams did the jump ball and the Lobos got the ball and dominated the game right away. We made the first couple of shots, but Nevada caught up. The Lobos got ahead by six during the first half and Nevada never caught up again.
The halftime show was really cool. The Lobo Dance Team performed a routine which they said they won in a competition.
New Mexico tried their best like always, and the final score was 66-43.
I am really glad I had the chance to go watch the Lady Lobos play. The boys and ladies’ team are fantastic and I will continue cheering for them. Go Lobos!
(Editor’s note: News-Bulletin reporter Abigail R. Ortiz recently visited Gil Sanchez Elementary School and talked to students about her career. In return, several students wrote letters to the editor, while fifth-grader Miranda Garcia asked if she could write a guest column.)
