Los Lunas edges out Gallup, 3-1
Lady Tiger softball continued their successful season on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over the Lady Bengals from Gallup.
After three scoreless innings, Los Lunas High's Sienna Thompson hit a double, setting up the Lady Tigers to score the first run of the contest.
Jacklynn Sanchez bunted, sending Thompson to second. A Jacqueline Jiron sacrifice sent Thompson to third, before an Alliana Mardrid walk brought Thompson home.
Gallup answered in the top of the sixth when Crystal Pablo scored on a Keana Spencer single.
Los Lunas scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. A Jerrica Chavez hit to right field sent Madrid home before Chavez stayed in a rundown between first and second long enough to allow Nicole Hathoot to score.
The Lady Bengals were unable to score in the top of the seventh, ending the game.
Los Lunas was scheduled to travel to Miyamura High School on Tuesday, but the game was rescheduled due to bad weather.
The teams were set to meet on Wednesday afternoon in Gallup after News-Bulletin press time.
