Men sought for battery in Peralta

Police are searching for two men who they say struck a storage business employee several times after he wouldn't let them into a unit.

Bosque Farms police Lt. David Gallegos said officers were called out to Lefty's Storage located on the 100 block of Valencia Road in Peralta at 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived, the 41-year-old employee told the officers two men had gone to the front gate, asking permission to enter one of the storage units

"Because of nonpayment, the request was denied," Gallegos said. "The employee told the men that once their bill was up-to-date, they then could enter the unit."

But instead of paying the bill, Gallegos said the two men became angry and struck the employee about three times in the face.

"They basically punched him with a closed fist," the lieutenant said.

Gallegos said the two men left in a gold colored GMC pickup truck. The victim wasn't able to get a license plate number. Both men are described as being Hispanic, one 5-feet, five inches tall, and the other about 5-feet 10 inches tall.

"The officer did see evidence that the victim had been battered, but declined medical attention," Gallegos said. "He has scrapes on his face."

The lieutenant said a follow-up investigation will either be handled by the responding officer, or by Detective Jason Hatch. Anyone with information about this crime or the suspects is asked to call Hatch at 869-2358.
