Information needed for resource directory

Essential Connections, a Valencia County group of community members, are meeting today to brainstorm how to get people and organizations more involved in building a central resource directory on the Valencia County page of the state's website.

It is a new website, www.sharenm.org, representing all 33 counties with a lot of great features, said Debi Randall, ShareNM project director, but the county's pages haven't been fully developed.

What is needed is for residents, nonprofit and service organizations and businesses to offer documents, quick links, important phone numbers and other resources for the site.

The county's web page has a map, organization directory, a library, calendar and other features.

"Anybody in Valencia County can suggest content to us," Randall said. "Documents we could add to the library, organizations that want to register in our directory and (be represented) on the Valencia County map. We need a little bit more grassroots work, to say what would be useful to Valencia County and then develop it together."

The idea is to have a one-stop source for all the resources and services the county has to offer to children, youth and families — everything from early childhood development services, to legal services, to emergency food supplies. The central information site could make it easier for residents to find services and resources they may need.

Essential Connections is meeting from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, at Partners in Wellness, 750 Morris Road, SW, in Los Lunas.
