Holm kicks her way to 4th MMA victory
Everyone knew 14-time world champion boxer Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm could punch. Last Friday night at the "Legacy 21" event in Houston, she reminded everyone she can kick, too.
Making her debut in a four-fight, mixed-martial arts deal with Legacy Fighting Championship, the Albuquerque native delivered a devastating head kick to the right side of Allanna Jones' head with two minutes, 22 seconds left in the five-minute second round.
All four of Holm's MMA wins have come from knockouts.
In the fight, the Bosque Farms native overcame early adversity in the form of an inadvertent thumb from Jones that hit Holm in the right eye.
Holm fought back with quick punches and body kicks before connecting with a final kick that caught Jones in the jaw and sent her to the mat, knocked unconscious.
Holm (4-0-0) started the fight staying low and leading with her left hand, followed by body kicks and a lead right hook. Officials called time when Holm was poked in the eye.
The win was Holm's first since announcing her retirement from boxing and taking on mixed-martial arts full time.
