Belen's White seeks win at Jackson MMA event
Belen's Ronnie "The Great" White will be part of one of five marquee mixed-martial arts bouts when the Jackson's MMA Series XI returns to Albuquerque's Tingley Coliseum at Expo New Mexico at 7 p.m Saturday night.
White, who stands 5-5 in his MMA career, will face off against Albuquerque's Nick Urso (5-1) in a 135-pound bantamweight bout. The main event for the evening will be a 135-pound bantamweight bout between Conrad Padilla (4-0), from Albuquerque, and Nick Rhoads (5-2) of Tucson, Ariz.
White is looking for his first win of 2013 after losing to Felipe "Flip" Chavez by submission at the Triple-A MMA event at Expo New Mexico in April.
"We are very excited to welcome back Jackson's MMA Series to The Downs Racetrack & Casino," said Scott Eldredge, chief operating officer at The Downs Racetrack and Casino. "The level of talent at Jackson's MMA Series is unmatched and we are very proud to bring such an esteemed event an organization to Albuquerque residents."
Other marquee bouts for the event are between Richard Villa of Roswell and Gabriel Benitez of Albuquerque; Jason Clayton of Grand Junction, Colo. and Albuquerque's Salvador Montano; Dallas, Texas' Eliazar Rodriguez and Guido Canniti of Albuquerque; and Jason Brenton of Tucson and Albuquerque's Daniel Salas. Six more bouts are part of the undercard.
Jackson's MMA in Albuquerque also sponsors Holly Holm, who was raised in Bosque Farms and is now pursuing a MMA career after finishing her hall of fame career in boxing earlier this year.
Tickets for the event range from $25 to $125 and can be bought at www.holdmyticket.com or at the door.
