Woman held for stabbing, beating
A woman who police say didn't like the fact that her boyfriend's former girlfriend was visiting him is charged with stabbing the woman several times.
Michelle Cabrera, 37, of Los Lunas, is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated battery. She is being held without bond for a probation violation at the Valencia County Detention Center.
New Mexico State Police Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez said Bosque Farms police were called to a residence on Hy-Pear Loop in Peralta just after 9:30 p.m., where they found 30-year-old Kimberly West suffering from numerous stab wounds.
Because of the severity of the injuries, West was airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.
According to state police, officers learned that West had attempted to visit her ex-boyfriend at his house on Zamora Lane in Peralta earlier in the evening. But, his new girlfriend, Cabrera, "takes exception to Ms. West visiting. An altercation ensues and Ms. West was beaten and stabbed," according to state police.
West, according to police, walked home and called police to report the incident.
State police contend that Cabrera was the primary aggressor in the incident. She was initially booked in the county jail on a probation violation.
