Michael G. Benavides
Michael G. Benavides, a resident of Valencia County and a long-time employee of Southwest Airlines, who knew the Lord, passed away to meet his Savior on Monday, Dec. 16.
He loved his family and friends and he was loved by all who knew him. As as a son, brother, family member and friend, he was an incredible loving person who had charisma; everyone will miss him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Benavides.
He is survived by his mother, Elsie Benavides; sisters, Lori Benavides and Valerie; his uncles, aunts and many family members and friends, who truly loved him and were there for him every step to the end.
Services will be held at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande in Belen at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, with the burial following at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. A gathering will be following the burial.
Rebecca Boak of Las Mesitas, Colo., passed away on Dec. 12 on her 73rd birthday in Mesa, Ariz.
She was a resident of Albuquerque and Belen, and taught in the Los Lunas School District from 1979 until she retired from teaching in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son and one daughter.
She is survived by her children, Darla and Dale Paynter, Mardell Talaga, Loyda and Michael Timmins and Lori and Stan Cunningham; grandchildren, Cari, Heather, Tim, DJ, Rio, Gina, Melissa, Steven, Corina, Jared and Zachary; and great-grandchildren, Holly, Phillip, Cheryl, Emma, Bellagrace and Denver; six sisters, one brother, brothers and sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be going home to Colorado, and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 19, at the historic San Rafael Presbyterian Church in Mogote, Colo.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the historic San Rafael Presbyterian Church, c/o M. Garcia 33688 Hwy 17, Antonito, CO, 81120, for its continued restoration and maintenance.
Karen L. Landavazo
Karen L. Landavazo, age 61, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19.
She was born Jan. 11, 1952, in Independence, Mo., and was the daughter of Robert and Anna Dennis. Karen worked as a receptionist for David A. Hawkins and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Through her strong faith in Christ she touched many lives. She will be greatly missed.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Clarence Landavazo; daughters, Maria Madrid and husband, Anthony, and Sarah Sinclair and husband, Robert; and five grandchildren, Dustin, Alicia, Jessica, Adrian and Jeremiah.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Grace Fellowship, 3384 N.M. 47, Los Lunas.

Richard Lovato, age 101, a resident of Belen, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his first beloved wife, Adela Lovato; and second beloved wife, Bertha Lovato; parents, Estanislado and Dominica Padilla Lobato; and two sons, Cirio and Gilbert Lovato.
Richard is survived by his children, Kate Debord and husband, Randy, Betty Garcia and husband, LeRoy, Arthur Lovato and wife, Florence, and Ross Lovato; step-daughters, Mary Lou, Cora, Viola and Helen; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Thursday, Dec. 26, beginning with a viewing at 9 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Garcia, Patrick Jojola, Jason Gurule, Joseph Lucero, Bailey Olguin and Killian Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Bazen and Christopher Lucero.

Nina “Nan” Olguin
Nina “Nan” Olguin, age 86, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adelino Olguin; son, Sammy Olguin; parents, Vicente and Eulegia Gabaldon; and several brothers and sisters.
Nina is survived by her loving children, Patty Powell and husband, Larry, Arthur Vigil and wife, Pauline, Debra Francis and husband, Steve, and Anthony Olguin and wife, Judy; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Fidel Gabaldon and wife, Lucy; sisters, Dubie Vigil and Rose Turrietta and husband, Luciano; sisters-in-law, Mary Garcia and husband, Gilbert, and Corrine Gabaldon; brother-in-law, Ernest Olguin; and special friend, Tony Baca.

Jack Olver, age 94, a resident of Belen since 2005, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13.
He was born May 30, 1919, in Carbondale, Penn., to John and Jennie Olver. Jack served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II with the 629th Tank Destroyer Battalion.
Jack is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth; sons, Raymond and John; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Jack will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
