Calles’ celebrate 70th anniversary
Elias and Elena Calles, of Adelino, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct. 19.
The couple was married inn 1943 at Immaculate Conception Church in Tomé, where they are still parishioners and where they are Eucharistic ministers and Elias is and altar server.
Elias retired from General Electric in 1986, and is an AIM member. He enjoys a routine walk for exercise, volunteering at the local parish and fishing.
He served in the Army during World War II in Germany.
Elena, a homemaker, is a member of St. Vincent de Paul and enjoys being active, volunteering, cooking, traveling, working outdoors and having family events.
Their children are Ambrose and Kristy Calles, of Belen; Rick Calles, of Adelino; Patti and Jackson Sellars, of Adelino; and Jeanette C. Urtiaga, of Jarales. They have 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The couple celebrated their anniversary with a gathering with their children, grandchildren and friends.
