TOMÉ ART GALLERY will hold its annual Soup-R-Bowl from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Thome Dominguez Community Center in Tomé. There will homemade soups, breads and dessert. There will also be hundreds of bowls to choose from: pottery, fiber and more. The event is a benefit for the Virginia Casados Clark Scholarship Fund at UNM-VC. LOS LUNAS HIGH SCHOOL will be providing after-school tutoring for students to prepare for SBA testing in March. The program is held from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. and will continue every Monday through Thursday with assigned tutors for the next six weeks. Transportation will not be provided by the school. THE HISPANO CHAMBER of Valencia County will hold its 14th annual Matanza beginning at 6 a.m. at Eagle Park in Belen. Free parking will be available at Belen High School, Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley and Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, with free shuttles to the event. The cost is $10 for those 12 years old and older and $1 for those 12 years old and younger.

BELEN MODEL RAILROAD Club’s Winter Vendor Sale and Swap Meet will be at the Belen Harvey House Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. There is a $1 donation fee for anyone 6 years old or older; children 5 or younger get in free.

A SWEETHEART WEIGHT Loss Challenge will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Belen Community Center. The challenge is a six-week course and meets once a week, you choosing your meeting and weigh-in day, either Monday or Wednesday. The top three winners can earn money. The minimum age is 14, but those 14-17 years old need written parent permission.

FUNDRAISERS

SATURDAY, FEB. 1
ADELANTE BARGAIN SQUARE will be holding a dinner and dance fundraiser at the Moose Lodge in Belen to help rebuild and re-open the thrift store that was damaged in a fire. Tickets are $15. There will be dancing, door prizes, a silent auction and bake sale. For information, call Jill Beets at 449-4026.
CONTINUING
BELEN HIGH SCHOOL is holding a fundraiser through Feb. 16 and are collecting jeans for homeless teens. Those who can donate are asked to drop off the jeans at the BHS main office.
CALVARY CHAPEL ACADEMY is selling raffle tickets to win a 1965 Mustang. The cost is $25 per ticket or two for $40. The drawing will be held March 22. Tickets are available at Calvary Chapel Academy, 19381 N.M. 314 in Belen, or by calling 864-6611.

A SOUP KITCHEN is held every Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Rio Communities. There will be pick up at Anna Becker Park in Belen to take to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
