LOS LUNAS HIGH SCHOOL Will be providing after-school tutoring in order for students to prepare for the SBA testing in March. The program will be held from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in rooms 438 and 440. The program, which will continue every Monday-Thursday with assigned tutors for the next six weeks, is funded through the GEAR UP program. Arrange for transportation as the school will not be able to provide transportation. Contact the school if you have any questions.

A GUIDED NATURE walk will be available at 9 a.m. at the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area. Visitors will be able to hike on trails that lead through several different habitats and plant zones, ranging from meadows and grasslands to riparian woodland. The walks will be held once a month. There will be a short beginner trail ride for about one hour, followed by a more challenging ride over an intermediate riding trail. THE RIO COMMUNITIES Association Flea Market and Bake Sale will reopen April 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Valley Plaza Center in Rio Communities. All vendors and shoppers are welcome. Spaces are $5 each, bring your own table. Plenty of outdoor space, both shaded and open.  Rules: 1. No reserved spaces. Choose your space the morning of the flea market;  2. THE BELEN-LOS LUNAS Cobras Special Olympics team will host its fifth annual enchilada dinner and silent auction fundraiser from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Belen Elks Lodge. Tickets, which cost $6 for one and $10 for two, and can be purchased at the door. There will also be a bake sale.

SCHOOL OF DREAMS Academy’s English teacher Kim Berlat is in the process of building a classroom library and could really use help. She needs donations of books for her students who are a diverse group of readers She needs both non-fiction and fiction books of any genre. Those interested can drop off the books at the school.
BELEN HIGH SCHOOL is holding a fundraiser through Feb. 16 and are collecting jeans for homeless teens. Those who can donate are asked to drop off the jeans at the BHS main office.
