A SCENIC HORSEBACK TRAIL Ride, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Event Center and Pastel Stables, will be held from noon to dusk beginning at the Western Tales Ranch, nine miles south of Belen. There will be a short beginner trail ride for about one hour, followed by a more challenging ride over an intermediate riding trail. ST. PATRICK’S DAY BALLOON Flight and Film will be held from March 14-16. The 30th annual balloon rally will be held at Eagle Park at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, if weather permits. If not, the rally will be held on Sunday, March 16. The film festival will be held at Becker Avenue and Second Street in Belen, where participants can walk and experience the site locations of several films that were shot in the Hub City. Screening of several movies will be shown at the Belen Public Library, the Belen Harvey House Museum and Harla Mays.

AARP TAX-AIDE Foundation are assisting with preparing taxes for low-to-moderate taxpayers, specializing in seniors 60 years or older, from 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Thursday at the Belen Community Center. Those who have W-2s will need to make an appointment by calling 864-0866, for meetings from 5 yo 7 p.m. every other Tuesday. RSVP in Belen will be taking appointments for state taxes only. THE RIO COMMUNITIES Association Flea Market and Bake Sale will reopen April 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Valley Plaza Center in Rio Communities. All vendors and shoppers are welcome. Spaces are $5 each, bring your own table. Plenty of outdoor space, both shaded and open.  Rules: 1. No reserved spaces. Choose your space the morning of the flea market;  2. No selling of live animals, except for the Valencia County Animal Shelter; 3. All food vendors must have a license to sell food. Future flea market dates can be found at www.riocommunities.org.
