KINDERGARTEN PRE-REGISTRATION will be held at Sundance Elementary from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The child must be 5 years old prior to Sept. 1, 2014. Parents/guardians must bring a birth certificate, Social Security card, current immunization records and proof of residency, which consists of a current utility bill and one of the following items: current property tax bill, mortgage statement or current rental agreement.

RAYMOND GABALDON Elementary will provide a K-3 Plus program June 3 through July 8 for students attending RGE in the 2014-15 school year. The program will provide an additional 25 days of instruction to better prepare students for the upcoming school year.  The school schedule will be 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Instruction will focus on the core areas of math, reading with art and technology included in the instructional schedule. FRIENDS OF WHITFIELD Wildlife Conservation Area will host their annual meeting from 10 a.m. to noon at the Whitfield Visitors’ Center. The program includes a presentation by Hawks Aloft, whose staff will bring four live hawks and talk about their natural history. Light refreshments will be served. WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES, an all-ages event, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, beginning at the registration point at Morris Road in Los Lunas. A fair will be held at the end of the walk at Daniel Fernandez Park in Los Lunas. The cost is $30 for an individual and $250 for a team of 10. The walk will benefit Valencia Shelter Services.

A BANK ACCOUNT has been set up for Theresa Castillo of Belen, who is in need of back surgery after to automobile accidents. The account, under the name of Theresa Castillo Surgery Fund, is located at U.S. Bank in Belen and Los Lunas.
