Clarification: Los Lunas Police Detective Denise Romero said Wednesday regarding the July 13 homicide of 21-year-old Charlie Davlin that there was no actual altercation between the victims and persons of interests at Allsups before the shooting.
“It just appears to be a random act of violence,” Sgt. Romero said. “There was no confrontation and no argument.
“At this point, we’re just asking for the public’s help in trying to find Mr. Romero.”
Investigators are looking for 30-year-old Randy Romero, of Belen, who they are only referring to as a person of interest. Romero is described to be 6-foot, 2-inches tall, weighing about 185 pounds, with brown eyes and a shaved head. He is also believed to have tattoos on both arms.
The Los Lunas Police Department is asking anyone who has information about Romero’s whereabouts to contact them at 839-3855 or 865-9130.

More than week after a 21-year-old Los Lunas man died after being shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a Jeep, detectives are hoping the public can help with the investigation.

Charlie Davlin was shot and killed in the early morning hours of July 13 after he and two friends got into an argument with four people at the Allsups on N.M. 314 in Los Lunas.

After the altercation, Davlin and his friends drove away, but the other group followed them, ultimately shooting at the Jeep, killing Davlin.

Last week, Los Lunas police detectives were able to identify several of the people shown in a surveillance video provided by Allsups. The detectives linked the people shown in the video to a Belen address.

When investigators arrived at the home, they located the vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle. Officers sealed the SUV and had it towed to a secure facility where was processed for evidence. Detective Sgt. Denise Romero said she wasn’t able to release what, if anything, was found in the vehicle.

Detectives have interviewed two people of interest in the case and are attempting to locate a third person, who police believe has information related to Davlin’s death.
