The Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts is hosting a presentation by Donna Diener and Dixie Boyle.

Dixie Boyle will present the history of the preservation of the Abo Ruins as well as the history of Don Frederico "Fred" Sisneros (1894-1988) who had close ties to these ruins.  His ancestors helped to resettle Abo in 1869.  Fred's father owned this land and put his young son in charge of caring for the old mission.  Later, Fred served as caretaker when New Mexico preserved the site as Abo State Monument.

When Abo became part of Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument in 1981, Fred became known as the nation's "oldest park ranger".  His final wish was to be buried there, beneath this juniper tree, near his beloved Mission San Gregorio de Abo.

There is no charge for this presentation and refreshments will be served.
