Cieremans hits 200 wins

The Los Lunas High softball team's pair of District 6-4A wins over Grants on Thursday at Tiger Field would have been noteworthy enough based on the double-digit scores and mercy rule shortened length.

Los Lunas took the first baseball meeting this season against arch rival Belen this week, but all was not lost for the Eagles, who bounced back at home against Gallup Saturday to split their games for the week and remain solidly in second place with a record of 14-6, 4-2 in district as of the end of play Saturday.

The race for first place in District 6-4A's final softball season will likely come down to a rematch between top teams, No. 6 Valencia and No. 4 Los Lunas, next Tuesday after both teams posted a trio of league wins in the last week.

It was a good weekend for Valencia County track and field athletes both as teams and individually, at the Moriarty Invitational on Saturday and the Marilyn Sepulveda Classic invitational track and field meet at the University of New Mexico Track Complex on Monday.
