Enchantment Juniors pitch shutout for title

The Enchantment Junior Little League All-Star team finished the District 9 Tournament undefeated Tuesday night, shutting out Westgate 6-0 at the Enchantment Little League complex to earn a trip to the state tournament for the second year in a row.

All-star swim team take first at NM Games

The Valencia County Super Swimmers, a combined team of swimmers from the Belen Hurricanes, Los Lunas Stingrays and Tidal Wave Swim Team, overwhelmingly finished in first place at the recent New Mexico Games swimming competition.

Enchantment Minors champs again

Pitcher Alex Tenorio struck out 11, scattered six hits and got plenty of defensive support as the Enchantment Minor All-Stars defeated Westgate 5-1 Tuesday night to win the District 9 Little League softball championship at the Isleta Little League Complex.

Enchantment hosts District tournaments

Nineteen Little League baseball teams in five different divisions will converge on Los Lunas this weekend to try to capture the District 9 Little League title in five double-eliminiation championship tournaments being held at the Enchantment Little League complex in Los Lunas.

Isleta Seniors earn repeat with sweep

The Isleta Senior All-Stars earned their second consecutive District 9 softball title Sunday afternoon, but their opponents from Mt. Taylor Little League of Laguna Pueblo did not make it easy on them.

Five Valencia County rodeo riders will be representing the county and the state at the upcoming National Junior High Final Rodeo at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, Sunday, June 22, through Saturday, June 28.

Burbank runs to success on track

At the end of the 2014 high school track and field season, Valencia High sprinter Joshua Burbank stood alone as a state champion. But the junior in high school said it took a group effort to set him up for that individual success.

Academy rally ends season for Valencia

Sometimes one at-bat can change the complexion of a game. That was the case in the sixth inning of the No. 4 seeded Valencia quarterfinal match up against the Albuquerque Academy on Thursday in the Class 4A Baseball Tournament at Cleveland High School.

Down to the wire
