Five Valencia County rodeo riders will be representing the county and the state at the upcoming National Junior High Final Rodeo at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, Sunday, June 22, through Saturday, June 28.

Burbank runs to success on track

At the end of the 2014 high school track and field season, Valencia High sprinter Joshua Burbank stood alone as a state champion. But the junior in high school said it took a group effort to set him up for that individual success.

Academy rally ends season for Valencia

Sometimes one at-bat can change the complexion of a game. That was the case in the sixth inning of the No. 4 seeded Valencia quarterfinal match up against the Albuquerque Academy on Thursday in the Class 4A Baseball Tournament at Cleveland High School.

Down to the wire

Midway through the afternoon on Saturday, the Valencia boys and Los Lunas girls track and field teams were looking at the possibility of making the awards stands at the Class 4A State Track and Field Championship meet.

Jags find trouble in tourney

No. 5 seeded Valencia got off to a great start in the Class 4A State Softball Tournament Thursday morning but was unable to continue that momentum through the rest of the double-elimination tournament and was eliminated Friday morning to end the Jaguars' historic season.
