Jack Lovato and Dolores Gonzales Lovato, of Los Lunas, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 21.
The couple recited their wedding vows in 1968 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé.
Jack retired as a senior auditor for the Department of Energy on Jan 1, 2011. He worked for the Department of Defense for 25 years, and worked for the Department of Energy for five years and with the Texas Highway Department for 10 years. He earned a BBA in accounting from UTEP.
Jack also served three years in the U.S. Army with one year in the Republic of South Vietnam.
He is the Quartermaster for the Daniel Fernandez VFW Post in Los Lunas and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
He enjoys going fishing, hunting, bike riding and is a part-time consultant.
Dolores is a retired owner of Hair Masters in Los Lunas, having had her cosmetology license since 1966. She graduated from Heights Beauty College, received training from Dale Carnegie and also took business courses.
She enjoys gardening, bike riding, social media and being a grandmother.
The couple are members of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas.
They are the parents to John Paul Lovato and his wife, Yvonne Chavez Lovato, of Rio Rancho; and Barbara Lovato and Rodney Morton of Los Lunas.
They have eight grandchildren, five of whom live in New Mexico and three in North Carolina, and five great-grandchildren in North Carolina.
The Lovatos will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on an eight-day Norwegian Cruise Lines trip to the Mexican Riviera.
