Wednesday, July 30, 2008 Linkin Park goes beyond 'Nu Metal'For Linkin Park fans in the Land of Enchantment, the clock will strike midnight at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Aug 6, at Journal Pavilion. In support of their latest album, Minutes To Midnight, rockers Linkin Park will take a break from their Projekt Revolution summer festival tour and return to the Duke City. In what is sure to be a loud, energetic and heart-stopping live performance, the band will showcase its diverse mix of hard rock, hip-hop and funk. Ashes Divide and Atreyu will open the show at the outdoor venue. This show is not a part of Projekt Revolution, but features a full headlining set from the band nonetheless. Since its formation in 1996, Linkin Park has sold more than 40 million albums and won two Grammy Awards. The band's debut album, Hybrid Theory, cast it into the limelight in 2000 with hits such as "Crawling," "One Step Closer," and "In The End." Hybrid Theory was certified Diamond (over 10 million units sold) by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA). The band has kept a steady pace since, with its follow-up album Meteora and current album Minutes To Midnight, which features the current hits, "What I've Done," "Shadow of the Day," "Given Up," and "Leave Out All the Rest." Minutes To Midnight is a departure from previous Linkin Park albums. Band members Chester Bennington, Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn and Mike Shinoda have strayed from their "Nu Metal" roots and have experimented with different sounds throughout the new album. The result seems to have worked, as Minutes To Midnight has already been certified Double Platinum in the United States and sold more than 625,000 units in its first week, making it one of the most successful debuts in recent history. Tickets still available at the box office or online at www.livenation.com.
