Dora and Teodoro "Ted" Lujan are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on Feb. 7. They were married on Feb. 7, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas.

Teodoro worked at the AT&SF Railroad for seven and one half years, and retired in 1983 as a U.S. Post Office carrier after 31 years of service. He is a jack-of-all-trades, building and fixing. He enjoys reading and watching telenovelas, spending time with his grandchildren, spending time at his cabin in Torreon, camping and traveling.
Ted served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was wounded three months after his wedding on May 8, 1945, at the Battle of Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart.
Dora is a lifelong homemaker and raised five children. She enjoys crocheting, sewing, pottery and watching telenovelas. She's a wonderful cook, who enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, camping and traveling.
Dora's parents, Benito and Monica Saiz, are from Tomé.
The couple belongs to St. Anne's Catholic Church in Albuquerque.
Their children include the late Daniel Lujan, the late Charlotte Maestas, Christine Pino and her husband, Louie, Steve Lujan and his wife, Barbara, Carolyn Smith and her husband, Anthony, Mary Lujan-Ortiz and her husband, Victor, and son-in-law Larry Maestas.
They have 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Ted and Dora will celebrate their anniversary with family and friends by renewing their vows at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Albuquerque. A reception will follow at the St. Anne's parish hall. |
