Wednesday, November 14, 2007 Bosque Farms lights up with art shows this weekendBosque Farms Getting ready for the holidays has never been so easy, thanks to three different craft fairs happening in Bosque Farms this weekend. An arts and crafts show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, and at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Bosque Farms Community Center. Gloria Stanley, community center director, says about 30 vendors have already signed up and will be showing their wares. "There's going to be something for everyone," Stanley said. Along with crochet, painted cups, ceramics and jewelry, crafters will be selling hand-made soaps, jellies, woodwork, traditional Indian Christmas ornaments and beadwork. Stanley said there will also be a vendor selling custom dog biscuits and accessories. Powdrell's Barbecue will be there selling lunch. Another craft show sponsored by the Bosque Farms Rodeo Association will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Cowboy Hall on the rodeo grounds. Caroline Daw, member of rodeo association, said there will more than a dozen vendors at the fair. "We'll also have some of vendors who will be inside the hall from the junior rodeo," Daw said. "We haven't had a craft fair in the past couple of years, but we had them before." Daw said people who come to the arts and crafts show will have everything from fashions and jewelry to honey and pottery. "We've always had the two of them together on the same weekend and it worked well for both," Daw said of the Rodeo Associations and community center's events. "People will have a wide variety to chose from." The First Assembly of God, located at 275 North Bosque Loop, will also be hosting an arts and crafts fair from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the church's day care center on Saturday. Sandra Gromatzky, a missionettes coordinator with the church, said that, on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be about a dozen vendors at the fair. Some of the crafts that will be available include fiber arts, friendship bracelets; a number of baked goods and a variety of Christmas crafts and decorations. "I planned it for this weekend because of the other two fairs," Gromatzky said. "We tried it before on another weekend bit there weren't as much traffic." The church will also be selling green chile stew, tortillas, hot dogs, potato chips and sodas. Space is still available at all three arts and crafts fairs.
