Jackie Schlotfeldt News-Bulletin Staff Writer; jschlotfeldt@news-bulletin.com

Belen The Belen Area Food Pantry will have a "Fill the Truck Food Drive" from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Anna Becker Park during the Christmas Festival.

Robert Auge of Auge's Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep provided a 2007 three-quarter-ton Dodge pick up for the food drive, and they hope to have it filled with non-perishable food items by the end of the night.

Food Pantry Board member Penny Baker said they are always in need of protein and milk products such as peanut butter, canned milk, tuna, canned meat, beans and rice.

The pantry distributes food to approximately 350 people a month said board member Laurie Duffy.

"Seniors who qualify can also come once a month for food and once a week for bread and produce," Duffy said.

The food pantry is located on the corner of Fourth Street and Castillo and is open from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. New applications are taken on Monday and Friday only.
