St. Vincent de Paul receives PNM energy grant

St. Vincent de Paul recently received a $2,500 grant to purchase new appliances for its Peralta location that should help cut energy costs.

The nonprofit group received the grant from the PNM Resources Foundation as part of its Reduce Your Use Grant and plans to purchase two refrigerators and two freezers to save energy and reduce costs.

"We are excited to receive this grant," said Salomon Moya, president of St. Vincent de Paul-Peralta in a news release. "Not only will these new appliances decrease our energy bill, but they will increase our cold storage capacity to purchase and store perishable foods."

The PNM grant goes to groups and organizations that support energy conservation initiatives that promote the efficient use of energy and enhance the goal of educating communities on the importance of saving energy. A total of $250,000 worth of grant money has been given out to groups and organizations across the state.

The PNM Foundation has invested more than $5 million to help create or maintain programs in New Mexico since 1983.
