1. What are some of the unexpected lessons you’ve learned being in business?
“The most unexpected lesson learned quickly for us is the somewhat seasonal aspect of our industry. People who are active participate in many different hobbies and activities and tend to visit the fitness center less frequently in the summer months when the days are longer and we have warmer temperatures. Being prepared for slow times is a must in any business.”
2. What advice do you have for someone starting a business?
“Invest all that you are into your business. Nothing comes easy and you must be willing to dedicate time and effort into making your business a success.”
3. What is the most enjoyable aspect of your line of work?
“Without a doubt, it is our customers. Developing relationships with the different people in our community and providing a service that improves their well-being is very rewarding.
“Our business has helped some of our senior members come off their blood pressure medication. We have seen diabetics eliminate the need to be on insulin. So many of our members have experienced major body transformations, from significant weight loss, to muscle gains for our competitive bodybuilders and strength gains with our championship powerlifting team.”
4. Who do you admire in your industry and why?
“I would have to say my dad, Gene Sais, would be the person I most admire in our industry. He introduced me to fitness to prepare for sports when I was young. Fitness became a part of my life at an early age and developed into us partnering up to share that love for fitness with our community for the last 22 years!”
5. What is it about Valencia County that keeps you doing business here?
“One word — family. Our roots are here in Valencia County. We enjoy giving back to our community, which has given us so much over the years.”
6. How have you been able to attract and maintain customers or clients?
“Our industry is constantly changing. We do our best to keep up with fitness trends, and we believe our customers (new and old) appreciate our willingness to adapt. We believe we have the best trainers, instructors and overall friendliest staff here at Main Street Muscle, which makes it easy on our membership retention.”
7. What do you do on a daily basis to make your business better?
“We take an active part in running our business. We make time to visit with our members and help with their day-to-day needs.”
8. Where do you see your business in the future?
“Keeping up with industry trends and providing a quality fitness experience to our members.”
