The body of a woman found along a remote Valencia County road earlier this month has been identified.
The death of Mary Kay Brizzee, 54, of Albuquerque, is being investigated as a homicide by the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office, but how she was killed has not been released.
“We are currently working on multiple leads to determine the circumstances of her death,” said VCSO Lt. James Harris. “We are looking at several individuals who we consider persons of interest in the case.”
Harris said those people are from Valencia County and elsewhere.
Law enforcement was called out to AT&T Road, on the morning of Tuesday, July 2, after a Valencia County road crew discovered Brizzee’s body.
The road is about two miles south of N.M. 6 on the mesa west of the village of Los Lunas.
When she was found, Brizzee had no identification on her and no distinguishing marks that made her readily identifiable, except that she had a full set of upper dentures and all her lower teeth were her own.
Harris said Brizzee was identified through missing persons report and the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator by way of dental records.
