Bizzell, Daly, Nicholson help Aggie rodeo teams to first-place finishes

Tucson, Ariz. Three Valencia County natives helped the New Mexico State University rodeo teams to first-place finishes at the Arizona National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Rodeo in Tucson last weekend.

Jonna Bizzell of Los Lunas was part of the NMSU womens team that dominated the goat tying event. Aggie women occupied for of the top five spots in the event, with Megan Corey of Bermerton, Wash., taking first place and Bizzell finishing second.

The Aggie men actually shared first-place honors with Central Arizona College.

J.W. Nicholson of Bosque Farms won the steer wrestling competition. Teammates Tanner Robinson of Mesilla Park and Frank Krentz of Animas placed second and third respectively.

"The students had outstanding times in the wrestling," said NMSU coach Jim Dewey Brown.

Also, Dean Daly of Belen placed second in saddle bronc riding.
