Los Lunas boys beat Gallup 9-0. The girls won 6-3.

Belen girls beat Grants 8-1. The boys also won decisively by a score of 9-0.

All three squads will meet for the District 5-4A Individuals Championship at Belen High School, which will begin at 10 a.m., Friday.


Belen, Los Lunas and Valencia are gearing up for the District 5-4A tournament, which will be held at Los Altos Golf Course in Albuquerque.

New Coaches

Belen High School recently made a couple of hires in their athletic department.

Ty House, a former assistant coach at Hobbs High School, has been named the head football coach. He will replace Greg Henington, who coached at Belen for three seasons.

Chris Storey, a former coach at Belen Middle School, has been named head coach for Belen High School’s girls basketball. He will replace Richard Armijo.
